| Abstract | The Mekong River at Quatre Bras Junction forms complex hydraulic characteristics. Here the Mekong not only splits into three branches but one branch has reversible flow. In ·this paper an attempt has been made to establish an equation of flows in four branches at Phnom Penh and to relate sediment flow with this discharge relation. Insufficient data has compelled to treat suspended sediment data for one year. The sediment rating curves show good correlation with related studies done in different parts of the world. One important finding was the suspended sediment flow curves for the Tonle Sap flows in two directions, which show a big difference in amount of suspended sediment load in the same reach while flowing in two directions. The sediment flow in the Bassac part was estimated and the overall effect of sedimentation on navigation in this region was investigated. |
