AbstractThe study reported herein is concerned with the use of management information system (MIS) concept in the operations of a nonprofit making organization. The Royal Thai Air Forces Department Store is used as reference. The operation system is first analyzed. It is divided up into four functional subsystems: purchasing, stock, sale and accounting and finance subsystems. The existing information system of manual operations of the system is then presented in terms of flow charts. Suggestions for improvement are proposed on the basis of the MIS principles. Manual-based MIS system is then developed. Indications are that the proposed changes, if implemented, will help improve the operations. The approach could be used in other organization with similar structure.
