AbstractThis study is an attempt to examine the position of rural women in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It emphasizes on the measure of the equality in the family, women's attitudes toward equality, and the contribution of rural women to the rural productive efforts. The study is based on the quantitative analysis of the data collected from ten villages in Chiang Mai. The analysis is divided into three parts, the position of rural women, the contribution of women, and the correlation between women's contribution and equality indeces. Each part is composed of the comparison between two regions of Chiang Mai.
