AbstractCotton Textile Industry of Bangladesh is one of the major industry group of the country. This industry is now facing some difficulty in supplying of raw material. At the same time there is a good prospect of import-substitution of cloth by processing raw material in the textile industry based on imported raw material. The purposes of this study were to (i) study the existing state of cotton textile industry, (ii) develop a system dynamics model of the national economy along with cotton textile industry, to observe the interrelationship between cotton textile sector and other major sectors of the national economy under dynamic conditions. Two production function models were developed to study the relation ship between capital, labor and output of the industry. System dynamics model, developed in this study, revealed a uniform growth of cotton textile industry as to satisfy the domestic need in the future.
