| Abstract | Petrochemical business stands as a vigorous and a mainstream of economic growth mainly in developed countries like Singapore. In petrochemical industry, effective management for the workplace health, safety and environment (WHSE) system and maintenance system is crucial. Over the last decade, Singapore, government authority introduced and implementing safety laws and regulations with effective safety management system in petrochemical industry so as to reduce the risks and occupational accidents. In addition, workplace safety, health and environment (WSHE) management system in maintenance give the effective result of saving the shutdown cost, operation stoppage and increasing the company’s reputation in business due to the prevention accidents from facilities, labors and damages to environment and society. Most petrochemical facilities owners and contractors developed safety self-regulations and implemented effective safety management system in their business workplace. However, they have strong in safety management system some weak points are there. In this report, I would like to review and evaluate the assessment in owner’s safety management in petrochemical facilities maintenance according to some accident cases study and system failure. Furthermore, I would like to develop the current safety management system (SMS) in order to avoid the future accidents related with employees, tools and equipment, chemicals and materials, etc. |
