AbstractMyanmar has gained noticeable attention from aid donors because of its democratic developments. Among them, Japan has been a long-time supporter of development in Myanmar in bilateral assistance. In this report, the case study project, DOH-02 is implemented by the Japanese ODA (Official Development Assistance) loan with the cooperation of the Government of Myanmar and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency). The design creates a solution to the client’s needs and then prepares instructions on how to construct that solution. Design management is becoming more and more critical in the road construction industry. Nowadays, road projects become more complex, and new contractual arrangements are applied. This study has highlighted the importance of design management in the design section of DOH. The analysis of the project points out the strengths and weaknesses. Recommendations for improvement are also provided. A design management framework in the DOH is developed.
