| Abstract | In the realm of construction projects, cost management and control hold paramount importance to ensure successful project delivery. However, the persistent challenge of cost overrun remains a pressing concern for contractors. This thesis explores the contractor's cost leadership strategy as a potential solution to mitigate cost overrun risks and enhance project performance. The research objectives encompass a comprehensive investigation of cost management practices in construction, an in-depth analysis of the adoption of cost leadership strategy in the BW Nhon Trach Project, identification of strengths and weaknesses, and the formulation of a practical framework for cost leadership adoption in warehouse projects. To achieve these objectives, a case study approach is employed, involving an extensive examination of real-world case studies of contractors implementing cost leadership. Key findings shed light on the significant impact of cost leadership strategy on project success, budget adherence, schedule compliance, quality assurance, and stakeholder satisfaction. Based on the study outcomes, actionable recommendations are presented for contractors seeking to implement cost leadership, alongside practical guidelines for the effective adoption of this strategy in construction projects. This thesis offers valuable insights and contributions to the field of project management, equipping contractors with the knowledge and tools necessary to embrace cost leadership as a viable and effective strategy in their endeavors. Through strategic cost management, the construction industry can enhance project outcomes, foster sustainability, and pave the way for future research and innovation in the domain of construction project management. |
