AbstractSustainable procurement (SP) is a main focus of the SDGs “Target 12.7: promoting sustainable development through procurement processes and decisions”, which influence all stakeholders’ health, safety, and environmental practices. However, studies on SP in the construction industry still receive minimal attention, and the relationship between SP practices, barriers, and drivers, including their underlying dimensions, especially in the private construction industry, remains underexplored. This study examines the key SP practices implementation, barriers, drivers, their underlying dimensions, and the relationship between those factors in the private construction industry in Thailand. A questionnaire survey targeted private organizations in the field and identified the key SP practices implementation, barriers, and drivers. The result confirmed that internal capacity and policy drivers, and external pressure and incentives drivers have positive relationships with SP practices implementation within the company. Furthermore, the relationship between combined SP drivers and SP practices was moderated by a company’s years of operation and its size. The findings suggested that the older or smaller a company is, the greater the effect of SP drivers on SP practices. This should offer policymakers insights, helping them make educated choices in order to promote Thailand’s sustainable development.
