AbstractThis article deals with the prefabricated concrete box girders for the high-speed train project between the Chinese and Thai governments. It focuses on three parts: Participation in load tests, analytical predictions and numerical predictions. First, it describes the types of sensors, the preparation, the attachment of the sensors to the structure and the process of data collection to obtain information for participation in the structural tests. It also describes the way in which the results of the load test are analyzed to investigate the structural behavior of the prefabricated segmental box girder.Secondly, the way in which the analytical prediction from the design books is considered is made dependent on the structural behavior of precast segmental box girders from the load test. The theories of analytical prediction can analyze the structural behavior of precast segmental box girders that do not exhibit non-uniform stress distribution: Shear and Torsion. Finally, the material properties, tendon behavior, and a finite element model for a precast box girder are created in SAP 2000 to account for the shear lag and warping effects of precast segmental box girders.Through this work, students will acquire the information and skills from load tests, heories and SAP 2000. Based on the results, they will learn about the effects of shear lag and deformation, which play an important role in static load tests for precast concrete box girders.
