| Abstract | The research investigates the seismic fragility assessment of mid-rise RCF structures with re-entrant corner plan irregularities through the analysis of L- and C-shaped configurations with the sense of purpose of finding out which configuration performs more superior when lateral load is applied and to demonstrate their geometry influences under earthquake loading. Seven 7-story models with consistent material properties and element dimensions underwent Multi-Mode Pushover Analysis (MMPA) to study the effects of different re-entrant corner geometries. The development of spectral displacement-based fragility curves utilized twelve ground motions that represented US California, seismic conditions. The results show that irregular building plans make structures more prone to seismic damage. The regular square shape configurations demonstrated better seismic performance than any other irregular shape models due to a its symmetrical plan shape. The study shows how building plan geometry influences seismic vulnerability and provides practical recommendations to improve ductility measure in the design of mid-rise structures in earthquake-prone areas. |
