AbstractThe design-study presented in this copy is an attempt to make comparison of quantities of materials and costs for the four bridge types: T-beam, box girder, precast-prestressed I-beams with cast-in-situ deck slab, and precast prestressed box sections. The details of designs are presented along with each type of bridge. All bridges are designed for the 15,00 m span, H 20 - S16-44 loading and 2-lanes roadway. Designs are based on present design stresses as established by the Royal Thai Highway Department. Final tabulations are given for quantities of material and labour. Unit costs, typical for Bangkok vicinity in 1963, are applied to give final total costs for comparison of bridge types. Recommendations are made for most economic bridges under certain site conditions or limitations.
