| Abstract | The rainfall runoff relationship of the Upper Chao Phya River Basin is derived by using the SSARR Model (streamflow Synthesis and Reservoir Regulation Model). This model which is a hydrological type is developed by the U.S. Army Engineering Division, North Pacific, Portland, Oragon. The SSARR model consists of the basic storage routing equation and the basin characteristics which characterize the rainfall runoff relationship. The basin characteristics which are considered to be a unique for a river basin and do not change with time are dependent upon the hydrological and meteorological characteristics of the basin and its topography, as well as the type of soil, the vegetable covers and the river channel geometry and its hydraulic characteristics. The theoretical description on the characteristics have been derived based upon the hydrological and meteorological knowledges of a river basin. The daily records which are used in determining the basin characteristics, i.e., the daily rainfall, basin outflow and pan evaporation, are taken in the dry year in 1968, normal year in 1971 and flooded year in 1975. The basin characteristics are obtained from the trail and error adjustments in regarding to the close agreement between the computed and observed outflows from the basin. |
