AbstractThe evaluation criteria and methodology, which were established in terms of user needs in the first part of the study for low-cost housing in Malaysia, were used for the performance evaluation of a low-cost housing system at Jalan Cheras in Kuala Lumpur. Based on the evaluation results, tenants' comments and suggestions and the general considerations in the planning of multi-family housing, an improved design according to various standards was then worked out. Finally, some modifications and improvements in the evaluation criteria, and new construction materials and methods for low-cost housing are also recommended.
