AbstractVietnamese economy has achieved many positive changes after being in three decades of “DOI MOI” movement, including efforts of reforming and developing the economy of state management. The market economy is now considered the common and fair environment for all Vietnamese businesses from both public and private sectors. Thus, the entrepreneurs have motivation of improving for competition. In addition, the joining in many strategic economic alliances and free trade agreements provides more opportunities for development. The Vietnamese government had strategic focus in developing strong and advantage industries to become driving forces for the entire economy and to develop in new markets. With both opportunities and obstacles, companies from woodworking industry must improve themselves and find proper strategies to win the competition. It is a long journey for companies to set their goals from analyzing the external environment for business as well as competitors, assessing internal capabilities, searching for guiding strategy then step by step applying from planning to implementing. This report would like to represent the efforts of reducing cost of operation of Danh Moc company to pursue cost-focused business level strategy in production of kitchen cabinets and wardrobes. There are carefully preparations of policies as well as organizing resources and knowledge to build operational model to support the strategy. The consistence of integrating IT in every process helps Danh Moc to achieve effectiveness, and to create company’s core competences as competitive advantages.Danh Moc company obviously has many tasks to improve and develop in larger scale of organization. The case study is the inspiration of entrepreneurship for small or start-up businesses in Vietnamese woodworking industry to form and run their business.
