Abstract This work is mainly concerned with the investigation of the variation of the Modulus of Elasticity & Poisson's Ratio of remoulade saturated clays under different applied stress paths, in stress controlled triaxial tests. The results of the tests on kaolin is grouped according to whether the sample state is on the state boundary surface or beneath the state boundary surface. The applied stress paths for states beneath the state boundary surface is further divided into regions within which the deformation characteristics are independent of the applied stress paths. Drained compression tests with parallel stress paths with states on the state boundary surface are analyzed separately. Anisotropic consolidation tests and undrained tests have also been treated separately. Relationships have been proposed for the Modulus of Elasticity as a function of the stress invariant, mean equivalent pressure for drained and undrained tests separately. Drained tests considered are anisotropic consolidation tests and tests with linear stress paths. Stress paths for states beneath the state boundary surface are subdivided according to their deformation behavior. The variation of the Modulus of Elasticity and the normalized Modulus of Elasticity are presented in the form of contours.
