AbstractThe Rosenbrock direct search method of optimization was modified and applied to determine the parameters of the Dawdy and O'donnell conceptual hydrologic model, The search method was found out to work well in finding the optimum parameter combination of the model. Three types of objective functions were tried and the error function which give equal weight to equal proportional errors was noted to be the best objective function to use in determining appropriate parameter values of the model. The model was modified such that daily hydrologic data can be used. For a two-year simulation period, the model simulated streamflow was able to account the daily variation of the observed streamflow to a certain degree.
