AbstractThis study deals with the economical effect of the quantity of the work of a project on the selection of three methods of making formwork. It is done herein by setting up a shaft as model and finding the breakeven points between each other systems. From figures which present the results of the form cost analyses including the influences of wage rates of the labor and the equipment costs, the most economical methods of making formwork under those different conditions are determined. The figures are made possible to apply to the rectangular shafts with different sections through the adjustment of the initial costs of formwork by assuming that the initial costs of formwork and labor costs will vary with the lengths of the perimeters of the shaft sections. This work is also extended to the studies of form configurations and form operations so as to design the formworks safely and economically for each kind of system, from which the form cost analyses are then derived.
