AbstractRelationship between nutrition status and socio-economic indices is a matter of controversy for last few years. Determination of this relationship is very important in Thailand context, where enough food is grown, but a significant proportion of its population suffer from malnutrition. The main objective of this study was to develop a computer system for finding out this relationship. A survey conducted in Ubol province of North-East Thailand was the source of data for this study. Canonical correlation was the statistical method employed to determine the relationship. Five computer programs were developed for data preparation for the final analysis, which was performed with the help of Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS). From the results it was concluded that, there exists a significant relationship between nutrition status and socio-economic indices. Furthermore, this relationship was not dependent on only a single variable but on a group of variables.
