Abstract | This thesis presents an efficient and practical scheme for automatic control of system voltage and reactive power in a power supply network. The proposed computational algorithms are reviewed from the point of view of on-line centralized control on a real time basis. A linear model involving a sensitivity matrix provides the relation between operation of regulating devices and corresponding changes in controlled variables - i .e. the voltage and reactive power characteristics. Using the sensitivity matrix, a method is presented to minimize transmission losses under the constraint of a voltage settling condition. A complex method due to Box and Narita & Hamman (11) is used for the minimization of bus voltage deviation, and an elimination method is used for reduction of transmission loss. Program specifications and hardware modifications are proposed, to implement the automatic control 'of system voltage and reactive power with a control computer. |
