AbstractReliability of two reservoirs. in Northeast Thailand namely Huai Pradu (capacity: 2,804,375 m3) and Nong Kae Dam (capacity: 1,275,680 m3) are assessed by using Gould's Method based on past record data. Three cropping patterns are introduced these are wet season and dry season crop as rice-rice, rice-peanut and rice-cucumbers. Criteria of safe yield acreage is based on the maximum allowable time of water shortage for related crop. Huai Pradu Reservoir gives safe yield acreage as 220 ha rice in wet season and 30 ha rice or 80 ha peanut or 90 ha cucumbers in dry season. In the case of Nong Kae Dam reservoir the safe yield is 310 ha rice in wet season and 10 ha rice or 25 ha peanut or 30 ha cucumbers in dry season. Application by using generated data gives about 10% lower safe yield, and a rough prediction gives idea about upper limit of safe yield acreage. A changing in runoff coefficient and project efficiency as well as an application of six synthesized reservoirs data are also introduced. It is found that reservoirs yield under this study depends on five main factors (1) risk to be accepted; (2) inflows to reservoirs; (3) reservoirs capacity; (4) losses through reservoirs; (5) drafts. Exploration on the results performed in this study finds out "some ways ' " to be followed in making better yield from the existing reservoirs.
