AbstractHele-Shaw model was selected for studying the seepage from open channel. The model was designed for an isotropic and homogeneous soil condition with a trapezoidal channel underlain by an impermeable layer at a certain depth below the channel bottom. considering the effect of channel water depth and the position of the static groundwater table on seepage from the open channel, experiments were performed for steady flow condition. The effect of the extent of lateral boundary for the development of uniform flow on seepage was studied by analyzing the dimensionless graphs potted with the experimental results. The experimental results were compared with the results of electric analog and D-F theoretical approach. An attempt was made to use some results of isotropic and homogeneous medium for the case of anisotropic homogeneous medium.
