Abstract | The study deals with the assessment of the chemical industry as a prospect t or industrial promotion. An overall study of the chemical industry has been made f rom where is based partly the pinpointing of potential prod uct areas. With the primary criteria set as export-potential, import-substitution potential and material and technological availability, five products namely ethylene, ethylene glycol, methanol, vinyl chloride and acetic acid , have been selected as worthy of a preliminary feasibility study. Each product study encompass an assessment of the uses, e valuation of the demand, supply, study of the production process and economic analysis. With cost estimates appropriately given as ranges o f values, risk analysis has been employed in the economic analysis. The return on investment has been reported as a probability distribution, thus giving a measure of the associated risk. |
