Abstract | In some developing countries, intensified economic activities, particularly in the industrial and agricultural sectors, and rapid urbanization in recent decades have resulted in environmental deterioration of land and water of the countries' concern. Most of these countries have established basic legislation empowering government agencies to control different forms of pollutions. This study attempt to analyze the effect of pollution control abatement in a kraft paper manufacturing company by considering the financial situation of the existing operation and evaluating any benefits gained by the company from the environmental protection measures undertaken. A review of Thailand's industrial development with respect to pulp and paper industry and the kind of pollution generated by the said industry in general are also included in the study. |
