Abstract | A multivariate model proposed by Schaake et al (1972) for generating rainfall data is applied to five stations in the Northeast of Thailand. The yearly values are first generated, then disaggregated into seasonal, monthly, and daily values. The model and disaggregation scheme used in this study are presented. The Mann-Whitney U-test ascertained that the generated and historical rainfall values have the same characteristics, and hence the appropriateness of the model. A sensitivity analysis was carried out, which indicates that the generated rainfall values do not depend on the choice of key and satellite stations. A comprehensive computer program in FORTRAN IV has been developed from one provided by Coran (1978). Two parts of his program were combined, the variable subscript order and dimension were unified, EQUIVALENCE statements were used to reduce the main storage, and comments added to improve readability. |
