AbstractOne of the most urgent problems facing Bangladesh is to produce enough food grains to feed its timing mouths. The attention and the efforts of the Government of Bangladesh are focussed at present to increase food production by using groundwater through deep and shallow tubewells, The present study involves the tubewell irrigation in Bangladesh by Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (B.A.D. C.) which plays as important role in food production. The present tubewell irrigation status of BADC and the acute water distribution problems in the fields are discussed in details. Sinking of tubewells at random without proper investigation of .groundwater hydrology, creates some problems. So, in this paper. some long term suggestions are placed for future development of tubewell irrigation in Bangladesh. To over come the water distribution problems in the field by the farmers as well as by the people of BADC, a few points are narrated in this special studies.
