AbstractThe computer-based Mineral statistics Information System (MSIS) aims to implement a fast, systematic and organized method of providing past, present and projected information on the mining industry of the Philippines. As such, it will involve gathering of data from mining companies and other concessionaries on their operations . The thrust of the development, design and implementation of the MSIS is towards the generation of information with the following characteristics: accurate, timely, available, concise, and relevant. This study encompasses the analysis of the existing information system on mineral statistics and the design of a new computer-based system. As such existing available information were reviewed and analyzed, information requirements of specific users were delineated, report formats were designed, input forms were modified, and files were defined. An implementation plan in five phases has been discussed.
