Abstract | There are two different types of critical condition in open channel, i.e. the regime of flow and the regimes of sediment transport. In the regime of flow analysis, the dimensionless parameters being used are the velocity distribution profile u/u* and friction factor f in the relation with |R, u*y/v and y/ks. For regimes of sediment transport, the dimensionless parameters are movability number of mobility number of sediment particle, u*/w, dimensionless shear stress, T/(Ys - Y) ds, the boundary Reynolds number u*ds/v. And the relationship between IF and kd for bed formation proposed by Kennedy. The results obtained from this study are the turbulent flow regime occurs at u/u* = 11.6. For laminar regimes of sediment transport, u*/w = T/(Ys-Y)ds at the stages of the beginning of bed movement and while turbulent regimes of sediment transport for both initiation of sediment movement and appearance of ripples, u*/w = 0.13 and T/(Ys-Y)ds = 0.06. |
