AbstractThe objective of the study is to give an overall historical view of the free-of-charge ambulance system now in use in an area of Bangkok and to suggest guideline for possible improvements in its deployment. To achieve this, a queueing model a nd simulation model are presented. Analyzes reveal that the service level of the existing system is quit high. This results from the fact that the calls for service are low, although the total actual demand is high , which suggests that the existing system needs some improvement - and far wider advertisement if it is to be properly utilized.
