AbstractThis study develops a method for the identification of a set of parameters in a multi-leaky aquifer system. The model consists of a two dimensional , partial differential equation for flow in a single aquifer and vertical leakage terms coupling the aquifers with Transmissivities, Storage coefficients and aquitard leakage factors as the models's unknown parameters. An alternate direction implicit numerical method is used to solve nonlinear parabolic partial differential equations with specified boundaries. The parameters are identified by improvements on a set of initially given parameters by minimizing the differences between the observed and computed piezometric head values, based on sensitivity analysis. The model responses for various boundary and initial conditions are analyzed using varied grid numbers, spacings and discharges for a pilot study. Finally the model is applied to Bangkok Aquifer system as a case study .
