Abstract | When constructing coastal structures to solve immediate problems or when planning long term development pro jects in coastal regions the future coastal morphology should also be considered , as these will help in the initial design a nd in the course of future planning. one such case is at river mouths where social and economic activities are developed. This study was carried out to determine the sedimentation and erosion pattern around a river inlet namely the Rayong River mouth in Thailand. The depositional pattern was simulated in a model of the river mouth and was tested with and without jetties. It was found that "When jetties are used the sand bar started to form after bypassing stage has been achieved . The time taken to reach bypassing stage varied with the jetty used . It was also found that the downcoast section was severely eroded due to lack of sand supply from the upcoast. |
