| Abstract | This study describes the development of a computer model capable of determining the diameter, slope and crown (or invert ) elevations of each sewer in a storm drainage system in which the layout, manhole locations, catchment areas, runoff coefficients and inlet time are predetermined. The criterion for design decisions is the generation or a least-cost system. The basis for the model is the application of non-uniform increment state dynamic programming as the optimization tool. Two examples of storm sewer system are used as a basis t or illustrating different aspects of the least-cost design and developing the pipe subsystem only and pipe , open channel combined system. |
