| Abstract | This study concerns the application of a n 8-oit microcomputer (APPLE II) in the structural design of reinforced concrete buildings. The proposed package , written in Apple Basic, consists of several modular program or subprograms on a floppy diskette and interconnected by a command module (t he main program) • The process of design , using SI unit, is divided. in to three main parts: ( 1) Preliminary Design --- An estimation of the dimensions of frame members (beams and columns) is made according to general experience and specifications of the Australian Concrete Structures code (AS 1480-82). (2) Building Frame Analysis --- Component stiffness method and modified MICRO-FBAP are adopted as t he analysis routine. {3) He vised Design The ultimate strength design (USD ) method (with serviceability and slenderness effect checks by elastic method ) and the specifications according to the As 1480 -82 Code are used. The design procedure mainly follows an interactive mode with automation on selected functions. Certain aspects of the programming techniques to control the input data and protect t he graphics programs are discussed. several design examples are presented to demonstrate the versatility of the package. |
