AbstractA computer model for the multiaquifer solute-transport processes has been developed using the method of characteristics, in the same line as that of the model developed by Konikow and Bredhoeft (1978) for a single aquifer. The computer program which is written in FORTRAN IV, solves the partial differential equation describing the process of solute transport in the groundwater flow, by coupling the flow model developed by Herath 91983) and yields the transient changes in the concentration of a nonreactive solute in flowing groundwater. After validating it against certain analytical problem, a trial application of the model has been made to the Bangkok aquifer system to estimate the salt concentration changes with a particular scheme of pumping.
