Abstract | To determine the degree of pollution or the ground level concentration of pollutants requires an atmospheric dispersion model for prediction and for developing reasonable standards of pollutants. The model of atmospheric dispersion is great assistance in design strategy to control air pollution too. The wind velocity in February during the northeast monsoon and in July during the southeast monsoon were selected to analyse for every minute interval. The wind velocity was collected by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand at Ao Phai. From the analysis of wind velocity, it was found that the wind velocity at Ao Phai is diurnal behavior. The diffusion coefficient at Ao Phai was determined from the wind velocity data using statistical approach. It was found that the diffusion coefficient at 300 feet high is higher than that at 150 feet high. The Gaussian plume dispersion model was then developed and used for prediction of concentration. Plume rise is calculated according to Briggs equation. Finally, the test runs of the model were made to predict the hourly average ground level concentrations around the stack or Power Plant. |
