AbstractThe major urban problem in Korea is over agglomeration of population and economic activities in SeouI, capital of the republic of Korea . One of the ways to solve this problem in Korea is to distribute Seoul population and economic activities to satellite cities. This study focuses on examining interactions between Seoul and Anyang cities using System Dynamics Simulation Model (Seou1-Anyang Socioeconomic Interactions Model: SAS IM) , which is very useful for analyzing urban policies. SASIM is an extension of Urban Dynamics model, which includes not only Seoul (central city) and but also Anyang city (a satellite city). SASIM is made of seven major sectors: (i) Population and Household sectors by income class , (ii) Housing sector by size, (iii) Economic Structure sector by industry, (iv) Accessibility sector . Specifically, the model has the former three sectors , in Seoul and Anyang city respectively and Accessibility sector which is a connection between Seoul and Anyang. As a result, using SASIM the study gives a robust urban policy to solve the over agglomeration problem of Seoul and to develop Anyang at the same time.
