Abstract | Small scale hydropower generation ha s been widely advocated
means of development of energy resources for meeting rural energy
requirements in the developing countries. This study indicates
advantage of small scale hydro power when compared to diesel power
plants on one hand and the grid supply on the other. Policy
matter has been outlined and issues in the socio-economic
evaluation aspects have been dealt with. Economic viability is
comparatively restrained by low capacity utilization and high
production costs. Cost reduction and improvement in supply is
deemed necessary in the present context. |
