AbstractThis study is concerned with the development and cost analysis of an information System developed using an fourth generation tool. The study begins with the analysis of a medium size production company - Bang Pa-in Paper Mill Company - who se main business is to produce paper . The company does not have any computerized system to assist in the production or administration. The analysis indicates tt1at a suitable area for computerization is in material flow '. Therefore , a material -Flow data base model is developed a nd a fourth generation tool is used in developing the prototype of t h e system. The would -be cost of the system if developed using the traditional approach is calculated a nd compared with the cost of developing the system by the fourth generation tool. It is found that the fourth generation tool requires only 20 percent of the total time for coding and testing the system using the tradition method .
