AbstractDelays in construction projects are common and cause many damages. Delays in construction projects derived from a variety of causes such as the investor's delay in the hand over to the contractor, the investor's lack of funds, delay payment to the contractor, design with many errors or delays in the approval of design modifications, due to the weak capacity of the contractor or due to objective reasons such as weather,... The delay caused damages to both the investor and the consultancy and management unit of project and the contractor. For the investor, schedule delay means construction costs will be increased, investment efficiency will be reduced, reduced potential revenue and brand decline. For Project Management Consultancy, they are decline belief in investors, are the loss of customers in the future. And for the contractor, they are costs increase of construction, risk of contractual penalties, reducing profits and even losses and the most important issue is declined brand. The purpose of this report is to analyze the causes and effects of the delay from the contractor's perspective from Bitexco Finacial Tower project. It not only points out real causes of the delay caused construction schedule delay, the impacts of the delay to the contractor, but it also analyze and propose solutions to restrict, reduce delays as well as impacts of the delay to the contractor when he will implement other projects in the future.
