Abstract | A large number of spare parts are needed for an electric power plant , and therefore the replenishment cost involved is very high. Replenishments are usually placed with a few suppliers where coordination of replenishment of orders for selected groups of items can lead to significant savings in the cost of replenishment . This study deals with the implementation of a coordinated replenishment inventory control model to an electric power plant . A comparison of costs is made among 3 kinds of control systems, independent control (S ,s ) system, coordinated control (S , c,s) system and (S , R) system. Not only the costs are compared but the reliability of spare parts support is also considered. In this study, the Safety Stock Budget Allocation Model (which is a practical model when the budget for safety stock is fixed, ) is selected to be t h e second model for designing the safety stock level . The results of the ordering model will be the input of the second model. These models are applied to 11 suppliers with a total supply of 1073 items. Computer programs were written for all systems. . The results obtained have been analysed and recommendations are made. |
