AbstractVehicles in traffic flow are classified into two categories according to t he car-following condition, namely isolated and non-isolated vehicles. For the isolated vehicles, t he headway is verified to follow Negative Exponential distribution. The headway distribution of non-isolated vehicles is here assumed to be Lognormal distribution. One assumption is that they are mixed with a certain ratio which is in function of headway. This thesis attempts to present the combined Lognormal -Negative Exponential model with such a proportion . Lognormal model itself is good when applying to fit the observed data of headway at moderate to high level of traffic flows while Negative Exponential model is suitable in case of low level of flows. Advantages of both single models are employed together in order to fit t he observed frequency of headway data passing a point.
