Abstract | The analysis of pile using 'effective stress' approach requires the
prediction of in situ effective stress. The pore pressure values have to
be known for the calculation of effective stress. The use of Cavity Expansion Theory to predict the pore pressure is one of the methods tried
in the past. Using this concept, a program named CANFE has already been
developed at Cambridge University.
In order to check the validity of CAHFE program for Bangkok soil a
case study has been done. A series of laboratory tests has also been done
to get the soil parameters needed to run the CAHFE program. The pore
pressure and the strength regain behavior were predicted by the program
and was compared with those monitored in the field. The work was extended
to observe the influence of different input parameters to the predicted
pore pressure. |
