Abstract | This paper describes a methodology for studying the interconnection benefits arising from two hydro-thermal mixed power systems in the People's Republic of China. Fundamental principles from a literature review and theoretical considerations for developing this methodology are also included. The methodology is based on the concepts of power system production cost simulation and the dynamic prograrrroing method used in reservoir systems operation. The composite basin concept is a lso employed in this study. The savings resulting from the different inter-tie line sizes are analysed. The hydro energy transfer ability in conjunction with the optimal operation of the pooled system is the main means of showing how much the benefit would be, building in considerations of energy conservation. |
