AbstractThis specia l stud y is devoted to the prediction of point 1·ainfa11 . In order t o incr·ease the practica l use of rainfal 1- runoff model ,it needs to predict point rainfall in advance, and makes a transformation of point rainfal 1 to areal rainfal 1. The stud y presents two models, norma l distributed regression mode l a nd Kalman filter mo del, and both o f them take natural uncertainty into consideration. The results show that both models can p~rfo rm we l i in poini rain fal 1 prediction, and norma l distr ibu ted regression model performs better than Kalman fil ter model in thi s study. Here, also discusses some factors i nv ol ved in Kalman filter algorithm which influence the accuracy of Kalman filter mode l. The results point out the importance of error covariance structures for the Kalman filter model.
