| Abstract | This study investigates project planning and implementation of rural development NGOs engaged in the promotion of people's organizations. Especially training methods of five NGOs operating in Chiangmai Province are studi°ed. Overall performance of all five NGOs was very sati s f actory. The research revealed that existing government policies, organizational ideology, previous NGO experience, involvement and participation of staff and target villagers are i mportant factors . The most seve r e problems faced are insufficient data collection, inadequate communication with villagers, discontinuity of group activities and limited accessibil ity. Suggestions are to stress even more on participatory planning, up-to-date information, enhancement of NGO staff skills and the continuity of follow-up activities. |
