Abstract | In this study, a graphical simulator is developed with capability of graphically simulating the Token bus LAN exhaustive and fixed time protocols, and can enumerate performance characteristics of the Token bus LAN. the with the The methodology is based on a graphical representation of the network consisting of three components: topology, nodes and protocols. The topology and nodes are drawn to network specification. The protocols are represented by using the Petri Net graph with some extended features. This language visually of Petri simulator is developed using Turbo Pascal Version 4. 0 under MS - DOS . The developed system can be used to demonstrate the working of Token bus LAN and execution Net. This simulator has been designed for a maximum of 5 nodes with fixed packet size and balanced load. Simulation tests were conducted using both the protocols for performance evaluation with respect to throughput and queueing delays for various network conditions. The results have shown that with exhaustive protocol, the average queueing delays are less compared to the fixed time protocol. |
