| Abstract | In Public Transportation companies the scheduling of bus drivers is one of the most costly and time consuming problems to be solved. Its solution consists of two main phases : first the list of duties needed to satisfy the daily service requirement is prepared ; then allocate or sequence these duties over a planning period to make the work plans for individual drivers. A computer program is written to solve this problem on the microcomputer. For the first phase, three methods have been proposed. These are (1) mathematical programming method ; (2) improvement of the manual scheduling method and (3 ) integration of method 1 and method 2. The solutions from these three methods are different and it seems that method 3 is most appropriate for the case of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority. The second phase is a problem for drivers in a given time horizon, even distribution of the revenue dayoff constraint. This problem is assignment problem. |
