AbstractThe performance evaluation of a compression free energy dissipation brace by dynamic testing was proposed in this study. The CFD mechanism was designed to dissipate energy under tensile loading and free energy under compression loading. CFB was composed of cam-grip device which release the steel core under compression loading and grip the steel core under tensile loading. The sub-assemblage test was conducted under differently loading protocols with differently loading rates to evaluate the performance of CFD. The experimental results present stable and repeatable hysteresis behavior without stiffness and strength degradation under dynamic loading. In addition, the damage index of Park&Ang model was adopted to predict and investigate the damage of the steel cores on CFD under dynamic loading, the results indicate that the damage index of all specimens match with the experimental results; therefore, the Park&And model can use to predict and investigate the damage index of CFD.
