Abstract | The performance of sampling moiré method in displacement measurement from long distance is evaluated by conducting experiments in various environments and improving the proper displacement measurement conditions. To reach high accuracy displacement measurement, many factors which can improve the displacement analysis results were studied. The factors which can cause errors in analyzed displacement obtained by using sampling moiré method which were observed are light conditions during image recording which depend on environments, distortion of grating in camera plane due to heat effect, use of focusing/defocusing technique, brightness conditions which depend on camera setup, use of rigid tripod, capture/video mode depending on camera setup, the distance between camera and target, and ambient vibration disturbance during displacement measurement. In contrast, the factors which does not have impacts on the accuracy of sampling moiré method including the angle alignment between camera and target and large applied displacement magnitude on the specimen also were observed. Thus, to decrease the displacement errors, the factors which can cause errors need to be controlled. Moreover, the least RMS displacement error which is equal to 0.0374 mm or 0.1871 percent of pitch was found in the experiment which was conducted in indoor area by using video mode at 56.948 m which is the distance that perfectly focusing images can be achieved. |
