Abstract | This research is an assessment of land use that affects the flooding in Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat District. The results showed that; land use change in Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat District in year 2007 there are two main types of land use are agricultural and miscellaneous areas. In the year 2017, two main types of land use were agricultural and urban areas or buildings areas. The miscellaneous area has changed the most from 18.06% to 1.07%. The miscellaneous area changed to an agricultural area of 11.71 %. and changed to a city or building area of 5.09%. When calculating flood risk from two years land use factor overlap with 6 other physical factors. The risky areas in 2007 were low, medium and high-risk levels of 10.67,65.23, and 24.10, respectively. The flood risk in the year 2017 had low, medium and high-risk levels of 4.02,50.39, and 45.59%, respectively. It is evident that the low and medium risk areas have decreased from the year 2007. But the high-risk area has increased markedly in 2017. The main drivers that affect the flooding in Nakhon Si Tharnmarat are seven factors. The flood level in past 5 years, the distance from the drainage route, type of soil, land use, slope of the area, elevation from mean sea level and average rainfall in the past 5 years, in order of priority. In terms of policy plans for flood protection ofMueang Nakhon Si Tharnmarat District found that; most of the policies and plans, which have been changed from national flood protection plans to provincial plans, have been changed to prevent and alleviate floods plans into the area of Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat District. There is the main project to help flood victims is the Nakhon Si Thammarat relief project. This is a project that helps to solve the flood problem indirectly because it is a project located outside Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat but it is an area that affects the flooding in Mueang Nakhon Si Tharnmarat. In addition, the urban planning of Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat is not effective from the interview, the experts or city planner found the problem is urban areas formed as barricades for drainage into the sea. Most of the area is lowland, so when flood occurs, the drainage time is longer than other areas. |
