Abstract | The pattern of energy demand in the road transport in Metro
Manila in the Philippines was analyzed based on historical trend.
Analyses showed that consumption in the sector is strongly
influenced by gasoline fuel where it accounts for about two-thirds
of the total fuel consumption. The other third is consumed by
diesel fuel.
Likewise, the energy demand in the year 2010 was forecasted
using the techno-economic approach, the MEDEE-S model. The
methodology involved specific surveys on the sector. The gas
station and bus company surveys reconstitute the overall energy
consumption breakdown in Metro Manila's road transport. It was
found out that 67% of the total fuel consumption is accounted for
by gasoline while 33% goes to diesel where cars consume about 50%
of these total consumption of fuel.
The main determinants of the future energy demand
sector are specific consumption and mileage . Results
forecast show that gasoline would still account for the
share in the energy consumption as economy and population grow.
